That is a good question. Keeping up with technology will certainly be a challenging at the rate we are advancing at. Hopefully there will be workshops and such to help or if not educated fellow educators that are aware of the uses of new technologies. I agree technology is becoming part of our every day lives and even into the workforce. That creates concern for too much reliance on it and potentially the lose of jobs which is very worrisome. As technology is becoming a big part of the classroom it may be booting out traditionally teaching and could make it harder for students without technology. I wonder as well if social networking sites are good communication it may be hard for those parents that are not involved in such technologies. Social media can definitely be a distraction and as teachers we will need to be smart about how we let technology be used in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the question under TPACK referring to technology taking over schools and students relying on it too much. If students cannot use their own knowledge and rely on technology to answer their questions, it will most certainly hinder their learning.
ReplyDeleteAlso stated above in FIFTEEN, some students may not have access to the technology that is provided and will not be able to stay on pace.
Net Generation- Using social media may hinder the learning process for students because they might abuse the privilege of using technology.
You bring up some very good points and questions. I think it could be very hard for teacher to keep up the technology without classes or seminars. Even then I think it would be hard to keep up, it seems like as soon as we learn how to work a program a new one comes out. It also really scares me that technology has become so big in the classroom, someday we might not even need a teacher. If students are always on technology how will they know what they love doing or are good at doing. We choose curtain careers because we enjoy what we are doing, how will that be possible if they always have a screen in front of their face?
ReplyDeleteI think technology makes for a "lazy" way of learning, i say this because when i was in classes where it was pen, paper, and a texbook i retained alot more of that knowlegde a month or even a year later whereas in some classes everything is technology based i dont feel like you retain very much of the knowledge at all.
